Agustín Arrieta (1802–1874) was a Mexican artist known for realism. Born in Santa Ana Chiautempan, he spent most of his life in Puebla de Zaragoza. He specialized in genre scenes and still lifes, especially depicting typical Mexican subjects.

Biography

Agustín Arrieta was born in 1802 in Santa Ana Chiautempan. He was a Mexican painter who lived during a period when Mexico was still part of New Spain. His artistic legacy is associated with the realism movement. Arrieta spent most of his life in the city of Puebla de Zaragoza, where he created genre paintings depicting scenes from everyday 19th-century life. In addition to genre painting, he was very prolific in still lifes, especially renowned for depictions of traditional Mexican dishes and products. His works reflect the culture and lifestyle of Mexico at that time. Agustín Arrieta died in 1874.
