Biography

Affandi Kusuma was born on May 18, 1907, in Cirebon, Indonesia. He was an Indonesian artist and cultural figure who worked in the expressionist style. Throughout his life, Affandi gained wide recognition both in Indonesia and internationally. He founded the Affandi Museum in Yogyakarta, where he also lived and passed away on May 23, 1990. The museum is dedicated to his work and supports the preservation and study of his artistic legacy. His daughter, Kartika Affandi, also became an artist and currently manages the gallery and cultural heritage foundation related to her father's name.
