Biography

Abilkhan Kasteev was born on January 14, 1904, in the village of Shizhin. Throughout his life, he became one of the most important representatives of Kazakh visual art, distinguished as a painter and watercolorist. In 1944, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR. His entire creative career and life unfolded within the context of the USSR. Abilkhan Kasteev passed away on November 2, 1973, in Alma-Ata. His contributions are recognized as significant, and he is regarded as the founder of Kazakh visual art.
